Introduction
I am studying in Social Sciences at Lionel-Groulx College, and I want to become a teacher. If you have ever thought about becoming a teacher in Canada, then this article is for you. You will learn more about this career and it will help you to know if it's a job for you. I wrote this article because I want to become a teacher, but I didn't really know what to expect. So, I informed myself and I made this to help others. I think my sources are very reliable.
What is it like to be teacher?
Being a teacher can be demanding because you always have to be interesting if you want to make your subject interesting for your students. But when you see that they like it and make effort to achieve their goal, it is really satisfying. You can see all their progress during the year by correcting tests, and a lot of the students who increase their marks during the year will be grateful to you. And that's an incredible feeling.
What do teachers do?
Teachers learn new things to students. They try to explain different subject, for example French and History. When they teach they also have to try being interesting so, students will be more interest in the lesson. They help students by answering their questions, and they give evaluation to see who understand well, and who doesn't understand.
What do teachers do on a typical day?
Before every day of class, teachers must prepare their lessons, they have to know what they are going to talk about and know the subject very well. When school starts at 8 a.m. they have to teach subjects to their students, and they have to generate interest. If students get interest in a subject, it becomes easier to learn, and they become better. Teachers have to answer different questions, and be creative for their activities. They have one hour of break for dinner, but some days they take this time to help students with difficulties. Lessons finish at 3 or 4 p.m. but when it's an evaluation period, they have to take time at home to correct student's copies and create new lessons.
Where do teachers work?
Teachers work in schools. Most of them work in elementary school and high school, but there are also teachers in college and university. They teach in classrooms.
How can I become teacher?
To become a teacher you will have to achieve your college, after that the next step will be university. You will need a bachelor's degree in the subject you want to teach. You will also have to achieve a teaching internship and evaluations made by the State.
How much money do teachers make?
The median salary for a teacher in Canada is almost $40,000 per year which is $20.31 per hour. This is when you start but the most experience you get the most your salary will grow up. It can go up to $90,000.
What kinds of additional training do teachers need?
There is not a mandatory training that teacher need, but they are recommended to increase their skills in communication, time management and organization.
What are the dangers of being teacher?
There is no physical danger in teaching, but teachers have to deal with different types of students in the same class, so they have to deal with conflicts. They have to treat every students equally, and if they don't, they will get some emails of angry parents.
What are the chances that teachers will be replaced by robots soon?
There not real chance that robot will replace teachers because it needs good communications skills and a teacher has to be encouraging, and motivating students, and they have to determine who has more difficulty and why. A robot can't do this because some times it's in the mentality or his life out of schools, and this, only human can see it.
What age do teachers retire at?
Teachers can retire at 60 years old, but most of them retire at 65 years old to get all the compensations they are allowed to.
Conclusion
As you see in this article, being a teacher can be demanding, but when you are a principal actor in a life of someone it's incredible. A teaching must need important things as a good communication, a bachelor's degree and you must be a hardworking person.
